Vietnam – The flight there

The flight to Hong Kong was uneventful. We took the Arctic route over the North Pole. Seats were comfortable enough to fall asleep in. That’s not usually the case when I fly. I caught a couple hours of sleep, but I was still very tired.

There is no longer a hot towel service at the beginning or end of the flight on Cathay Pacific. A little bit of a let down.
At 5 am, the Hong Kong airport was busy. People milling about everywhere.
My connection to Hanoi didn’t have a gate assignment so I wandered the airport for a bit. The airport is quite large but really bland, boring and sterile looking. There are water stations where you can get hot and cold water but the water tastes musty. Probably not cleaned in some time and mildew is growing in the tanks.
My flight did assign the gate until  approximately 20 minutes before boarding. To my surprise the airport was bigger than I thought…I had to jump on a bus to get to a satellite terminal. The flight is supposed to be on time so we will board at any minute.
